This Week's Artist

BREWCHAD

Originally composed of John Serino (voice & guitar) and Dan Romano (bass & synths), Brewchad was formed in Montreal, Quebec, in late 2004 with an outlook to manage every aspect of the band's career to ensure that they not only remain true to themselves but to the music they wanted to produce.

They began working on their first song, “Shades of Grey”, taking nearly nine months to complete. Despite how long it took them to write their first song, John and Dan were able to find their own sound, their own approach to writing and composing, and even a little bit of themselves.

The project took its final form in March of 2006, where they began writing diligently completing eleven more songs in about the same time it took them to write their first. With a collection of twelve songs, they collaborated with Maxx Zinno (formerly of Pulse Ultra and Rise Electric) who helped command their rhythm section, and Paul Pivetta, who not only performed on a couple of songs, but also engineered, mixed, and mastered the entire album.

In November 2008, the product of their hard work became available for everyone to hear. Since then, Pat Cristiano (guitar) and David Potvin (percussions) have joined the team and bring their own influences that help compliment the other band members. With a complete team, Brewchad has been entertaining fans and performing live shows within the Montreal area which include venues like Cafe Campus, Le National, and Club Soda.

Interview

  • Can you tell us what kind of music you play and who your main influences are?
While its difficult for us to name a category, its safe to say we consider our music melodic and perhaps rock. Our aim is to convey emotion by telling a story and exposing the listener to musical ideas we find interesting. Our influences range from the blues, rock, jazz and classical, including artists like Igor Stravinsky, Herbie Hancock, The Beatles and Sarah Mclachlan.
  • Did you already released a CD or EP? Can we buy it somewhere?
Brewchad's debut album, "You That I Lost" is now available at amazon.com, CD Baby, iTunes, and brewchad.com.
  • Could you briefly describe the music-making process?
Everything starts with some personal history. Inspiration that begins the process comes from a few melodies and a few words describing an experience. We identify the story, and paint a lyrical picture. From there we introduce melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic ideas on piano. Once that skeleton can stand on its own two feet, we introduce an arrangment which best projects our vision.
  • How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website?
www.brewchad.com is the best place for fans to learn about brewchad and its members, find out what the band is up to, and where they will be playing next.  Fans also have the chance to interact with other fans and listen to all our streaming tracks in their entirety, free of charge.
